Levan Manjavidze’s residency

Museum renovation preparatory stage was a time for hosting artist-in-residence in an unusual format. Artist Levan Manjavidze stayed at the museum for 10 days (December 18th-28th), and engaged with visitors in the process of exhibition planning. Using non-traditional forms of representation, visitors became co-participants in creation of the exhibition. Levan Manjavidze’s artworks were kept in his storage for a long time and were unknown to the public. “Now and here” the artworks were being opened in the museum space, while the museum started to prepare for packaging up the collections. Thus, the exhibition metaphorically unified the process of individual and institutional formation.

A short film was produced in collaboration with Ako Devidze during the residency period.
