The exhibition drew inspiration from the diverse socio-cultural practices that revolve around mulberry trees in the South Caucasus. Aged lumber from mulberry trees is commonly used to manufacture the body of an ancient instrument called Tar, which traditionally uses silk threads as strings. The installations in the exhibition engaged with these layered histories by tracing the material associated with Karabakh mulberries. An architectural intervention was created using the last batch of products from the decommissioned Yerevan Silk Factory, which manipulated the light entering the gallery.
Participants: Rouzbeh Akhbari & Felix Kalmenson
