As part of the international festival, the exhibition, featuring the collection from the Silk Museum and works by the artist Tamuna Chabashvili, was opened at the "Les Drapiers" gallery in the city of Liege, Belgium.

On October 14, as part of the international festival "Europalia," the exhibition "Soie - აბრეშუმი," featuring the collection from the Silk Museum and works by the artist Tamuna Chabashvili, was opened at the "Les Drapiers" gallery in the city of Liege, Belgium.

The author of the exhibition concept and design: Jean-Luc Petit.

 

Belgian artist Jean-Luc Petit's contemporary vision brings together various collections from the State Silk Museum, including 143 exhibits. The samples of silk cocoons, fabrics, and silk threads serve as reminders of the development of the silk industry in Georgia and its deep historical contexGeorgian artist Tamuna Chabashvili presents thematic works in the exhibition, such as "The Book of Patterns" (2016) and "Traveling tales" from the "Patterns of (In)security" (2023). Chabashvili's works conceptually explore themes of archives, traces, personal histories, visual and tactile narratives.

 

During the exhibition opening, Salome Phachuashvili, the museum collection curator introduced the exhibits to the visitors, as well as the publication "Seri(a)," created in cooperation with Kona Books publishing and the German artist Olaf Nikolai.

 

The exhibition will run until December 16, 2023.

 

The exhibition was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports of Georgia and "Europalia."
